Is spam a normal part of this forum? Especially spam spam? (Like three separate ones on the same thing?) If so, is there a way to hide a particular forum from what I see so they don't cover up what I think is important? I've been reading for a few months and don't remember spam before.

Now I am off to transfer money to claim my share of the assets of a now dead long lost distant relative from Nigeria who apparently had millions and didn't leave a will....

LOL! Some people have all the luck!

I got 7 calls on my two different phone numbers just the other day!

If one of those numbers is your cell phone, you could check if your phone has a call barring feature. I was getting calls from a number I didn't recognise earlier this week, and I found the call barring feature while looking for something to block the swine. Once I enabled it, only numbers that are on my sim card can call me.

Not much I can suggest regarding a home phone/landline. I have Caller ID and an answerphone service, so if I don't recognise the number and they don't leave a message, well, it wasn't that important was it? And if they spam my answerphone, I only hear the first second or two of their message before it's deleted.

Hmm... I don't really notice spam here on these forums.  Attests to the alertness of the people at Stardock.

Yep, home phones both. I am about to get a blast horn and once I find out they are a SPAMMER, blast their ears into deafness! Muhaha!

SPAM is getting more prevalent everywhere it seems, even on telephones.  We have a thing in the USA where you can add your telephone number to the National Do Not Call registry, and no one is supposed to call you with the old "Buy this...", "Free that..." type of crap. Unfortunately it does not work, people keep calling all the time and you cannot even report them to the Federal Communications Commission because the number coming in is faked, like "888-000-2679"! I got 7 calls on my two different phone numbers just the other day! Lower you bills! Refinance your mortgage! Hell, half or more of the ad's on the Internet are all SPAM now. I wish I could find out who these people are, I would make sure they suffer before they die! (Well, not literally).

Yoy, cell phones... Hubby and I have pay-as-you-go type cell phones. This means that every spam that come through costs us - it adds up. Since there is no phone number, there is no way to block them. The number disappears after they call - how do they do that? The reason we have pay-as-you-go cell phones is because we can't afford fancy ones. (that is the main type in the middle east, opened up phones and choose your card vendor) If you don't use the fancy stuff, the pay-as-you-go phones can be really cost efficient.

@ Jafo - Blood? Hubby is paramedic and I was a firefighter. Blood is fun.

@ Sydneysiders - I understand that fried spam is good. Wanna try it? You go first. I think it was the Philippine folks that love the stuff.

Unfortunately Spam is not like wine, which gets better with age.. It's more like Macular degeneration, it just gets more distorted as time go's by.
